Cucina offers both an intimate Italian bistro and a vibrant grab & go market café.  In the heart of Calgary’s downtown shopping district, this 50 seat restaurant serves up breakfast, lunch and dinner in a lively, casual atmosphere.  In house specialties include: artisan pastries, takeout sandwiches, rotisserie specials and traditional Italian pastas.

The Sous Chef supervises the staff of the kitchen, participating in the training and development of staff and also provides input for performance appraisals and disciplinary action. He/she manages the kitchen in compliance with all health and safety regulations by ensuring adherence to sanitary and safe food handling guidelines at all times.RequirementsMinimum 4 years of experience in the food services industry. Minimum 3 years in a supervisory/management role. Experience in all aspects of customer service and people management. Demonstrated ability to lead and direct a team.Experience supervising employees, including organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work.Excellent verbal and oral communication skills, including ability to give directions, converse with customers and communicate with suppliers. Professional demeanor, grooming and appearance at all times.Exceptional conflict resolution, negotiation, and objection handling skills.Able to respond quickly in a dynamic and changing environment.Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.Proficient with computers, including Microsoft office, internet and email. Experience ordering and monitoring supplies, and ensuring appropriate product inventories are in place.Must be able to transport up to 50 pounds on occasion and up to 35 pounds regularly.Will be exposed to high temperatures in the kitchen environment.Manual dexterity required to use knives and kitchen appliances.
